History Behind The Clovis Point
In the 1920s, archaeologists uncovered a fluted spearpoint among the bones of an ancient American bison at an excavation site in New Mexico. This discovery led to the identification of the Clovis people, a previously unknown group of Paleoamericans. Their signature tool, the Clovis Point, became a defining artifact of their culture. It’s believed the Clovis people migrated from Siberia to North America via the Bering Strait roughly 13,500 years ago, with their presence spanning from Alaska to Venezuela.
The Clovis Point was part of a broader toolkit that included scrapers, blades, drills, and needles—reflecting their resourcefulness. Although their culture is recorded for only about four centuries, approximately 80% of all Native American populations can trace their lineage back to the Clovis people.
At Clovis Point, we chose this name because, like the Clovis people, we believe that success comes from adaptability, precision, and innovation.
