In the early 2000s, Riaz served as President and CEO of Thermal North America, the largest district heating and cooling company in the US. He also served as President and CEO of Wharton County Power Partners, a Texas company that owned power generation facilities. Prior to joining Denham in 2004, Riaz was President and CEO of Capstone Global Energy, a company that he founded.
Riaz is Chairman of the Board of the American Pakistan Foundation and is also a member of the Board of the Convergence Center for Policy Resolution. He is a member of Business Executives for National Security (“BENS”), an organization of private sector leaders that offer their expertise pro-bono to the U.S Government on National Security matters. Riaz is also a volunteer pilot for Angelflight, Pilots for Patients and Veterans Airlift Command and is a recipient of the Asia Society Houston Center’s award for leadership in business and philanthropy. He is also a Senior Fellow of the American Leadership Forum. He serves on the Advisory Board of the Interfaith Ministry of Greater Houston. Riaz and his wife Salma are involved in numerous charitable and philanthropic activities.
Riaz received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Pakistan University of Energy & Technology and a Master of Business Administration degree from the Graduate School of Business at Mississippi State University.
